The F.A Sweeney Stonemasons

The Sweeney family, whose origins lie in Donegal, have worked in stone for two generations, honing their skills and establishing the Fife-based stonemasonry business over the past 40 years. Current owner Nick Sweeney continues the craft of his stonemason father to this day, with a growing portfolio of restoration, conservation and contemporary commissions.

Our Ethos

Our deep respect and love of the raw material in which we specialise is reflected in all the work we do. British sandstone, Portland stone from Dorset, Kilkenny limestone from Ireland: we use all these and more, depending on the nature of the project. But whichever kind of stone we choose, the pleasure of transforming rough-hewn rock to something smooth, perhaps intricate and beautiful, never diminishes.

The traditional fine workmanship of the master stonemason is apparent in all the projects undertaken by us. In particular, our specialist experience and expertise with historic and listed stone buildings have forged us a strong reputation for this unique conservation and restoration work.
